The Factor Advantage — A Comprehensive Comparison with Tempo

The Factor Advantage — A Comprehensive Comparison with Tempo

I tried meal prepping last year, but when I realized I was wasting my precious, chill Sundays chopping and cooking, I ditched it.

I did not want to return to my unhealthy takeout habits, so I signed up for Tempo — a company that delivers pre-made meals to my doorstep every week. It was going well enough, but then I discovered Factor, which offers something similar.

I was so intrigued by Factor’s delicious-looking meals that I paused my Tempo subscription to check out Factor for a week.

Here’s what I discovered when I compared Factor to Tempo: 1. Meal Variety

  • TEMPO: Tempo offers 20 new meals a week, which isn’t bad. But what sucks is that they generally don’t have enough vegetarian options. As a self-proclaimed flexitarian, I was disappointed with their limited variety, particularly when it comes to specialized diets.
  • FACTOR: The first thing I noticed when I signed up for Factor is their broad range of meals that cater to specific dietary needs, such as keto, paleo, low-carb, plant-based, and even high-protein — wow! With Factor, I get to choose from a new menu of 35 dietitian-designed, pre-made meal options every single week.

2. Convenience

  • TEMPO: Tempo meals arrive fully-prepared. All you have to do is cook them for 3 minutes, and let them cool for one. On those hectic days when I’m in a rush — that would be every day — I truly appreciated the extra time Tempo saved me.
  • FACTOR: By delivering fully-cooked meals that only require reheating, Factor eliminates the hassle of cooking. With no prep time, it’s ideal for anyone looking for nutritious, ready-to-eat meals. All meals arrive fresh and are ready in mere minutes

3. Nutrition

  • TEMPO: While health-conscious, Tempo doesn’t provide direct access to nutritional experts for personalized support. The focus is more about offering well-balanced meals without an additional layer of customer service.
  • FACTOR: Factor’s meals are designed by dietitians to ensure they’re high-quality and nutritious. My meals were wholesome and absolutely mouth-watering. And for extra accountability, their team of dietitians is always available to help you crush your goals with their nutrition coaching programs at NO COST— what an amazing benefit!

4. Taste

  • TEMPO: While some of my Tempo meals were tasty, a few tasted bland. And to be totally honest they weren’t as visually appetizing as others. Although I enjoyed the Basil Pesto Chicken Primavera, the Beef Meatballs were dry and boring. Overall, Tempo’s hit-and-miss when it comes to flavor.
  • FACTOR: I’ve never had a dud meal with my Factor meals. In fact, I only have the highest compliments. My favorite so far is the Monterey Spinach Chicken with Sun-Dried Tomato Alfredo & Cauliflower Gratin. All their meals are sooo fresh and delicious.

5. Value

  • TEMPO: Tempo’s prices start at $10.98 per serving, which isn’t bad especially considering how much money I used to waste on takeouts.
  • FACTOR: Factor meals start at $10.99 each — pretty much the same as Tempo. But considering the quality, convenience, and overall customer service, it’s a far better deal.

My Verdict

Tempo is a great service that has its benefits, but Factor is way better. I wish I’d known about them sooner.

Although both services helped me stop caving to takeout or frozen pizza, it was impossible to meet my nutritional goals with Tempo meals that I didn’t actually enjoy. And then there was Factor. Factor helped me make that lifestyle change and stick with it, once and for all.

Each week I choose from 35 flavorful meal options. I’m obsessed with their keto options like Grilled Steakhouse Filet Mignon with Parmesan Creamed Spinach, Broccolini & Asiago Butter and their vegetarian dishes like the Indian Butter Tofu, Lentils & Rice with Curry-Spiced Spinach & Potatoes are just as tasty.

Not to mention that the service is totally flexible. I can order the number of meals that best suits me, skip a week, and adjust my order at any time. I finally canceled my Tempo subscription and I’m sticking with Factor for the long haul.

If you’re looking for a stress-free, mess-free solution to improve your diet and save you time and money, sign up for Factor.
