With The EU’s Carry-On Rules…What Makeup Can I Pack?

With The EU’s Carry-On Rules…What Makeup Can I Pack?

So, it looks like our dreams of more convenient airport security procedures have been crushed. While there were whispers of advanced technology scanners hitting major EU airports in 2024 — including a feature that would eliminate the need for strict guidelines for liquids — it turns out there’s been a major delay in the process.  The new EU carry-on rules are worrisome…but we can do this.

Sadly, travelers in the EU will have to suck it up and stick to the same old TSA rules and regulations. That being, all liquids, gels, and lotions must be limited to 100ml (3.4 OZ).

It’s frustrating, these stringent security procedures. If you’re anything like me, when you’re traveling, all you want to do is snap your fingers and land in a beach chair — sipping an ice cold Pineapple Mohito — at your dream destination. But life doesn’t work that way. So, until the advanced scanners are in place, we’re gonna need to refresh our makeup kits while in travel-mode just the tiniest a bit.

I will be opening up my very own makeup bag that’s specifically reserved for travel — this way, I’m fully prepared to breeze through TSA without stressing about leaving some behind or security trashing my beloved products.

Here are my mandatory beauty essentials for when I’m boarding a plane, about to take off. All are TSA-approved, comply with the new EU carry-on rules and all are *chefs kiss* fabulous.

Charlotte Tilbury Cheek To Chic Powder Blush

So. I kept hearing all these endless whispers about how out-of-this-world the Charlotte Tilbury Powder Blush is. My first thought was, “It’s just a blush. What’s so great about it?”

My skepticism only intensified when I hit the official Charlotte Tilbury site, only to see that their Cheek to Chic powder blush costs a whopping $42 bucks. Um, excuse me? Why would I spend my hard-earned cash on a product that I can buy at the drug store for $8 dollars?

But because I’ve been flirting with “quiet luxury” lately, I sort of like the idea of investing in high-quality products in modest quantities. As opposed to entire drawers full of cheap drugstore makeup that causes acne flareups. Yeah, no thanks. I’d much rather save up for the high quality stuff.

So, I bit the bullet and splurged on the luxury blush that everyone and their grandmother’s been raving about.

I got mine in Love is the Drug hue. And let me tell you, when I first applied it, I gasped. Literally *gasped.* It looks so gorgeous, natural, and glowy, that I finally understand all the hype.

Because it’s a powder blush, you never have to worry about the TSA liquid rule. It’s a terrific way to give yourself a lively glow to mask your airport fatigue. (Don’t worry — we all get that while traveling.)

Now, this Cheek to Chic powder blush will go down in history as a staple in my make-up kit.

Lancome Monsieur Big Volumizing Mascara

As a make-up fanatic, I’ve gone through every last mascara brand and product known to mankind. Like, seriously. Every single one of them. And out of all the too clumpy/too dry/too expensive products, I have finally found “the one.”

Lancome Monsieur Big Volumizing Mascara is the TSA-approved beauty essential of my wildest dreams. How can a product have such impressive longevity and beautifying abilities all at once?

I just checked my Amazon Prime account and it says the last time I purchased Lancome Monsieur Big Volumizing Mascara was back in February. That means I’ve been using this product just about daily for close to eight months now and it still shows no signs of running out.

The bottle may be small (TSA approved, under 0.3 Oz,) but it’s crazy how much mascara they’re able to store in such a tiny tube!

Like the Charlotte Tilbury blush, Lancome Monsieur is another heavy hitting make-up favorite that keeps me looking refreshed and awake. Not too heavy, not too light, but just right, this mascara will leave you looking elegant, alert, and lovely.  Plus, it’s EU carry-on rules approved.

Nivea Lip Care, Fruity Tinted Lip Balm

I’ll be honest, when it comes to the lips, I’m the type of girl who goes all out. I love applying a bold red, like Mac’s Ruby Woo, then finishing it off with a dramatic Too Faced lip plumper.

Unfortunately, though, this statement make-up look of mine doesn’t translate well to a day spent rummaging about the airport before cramming into a giant tin can hurtling through the sky on its way to Europe. The aircraft causes severe dryness in the cabin. So you arrive looking all brittle and cracked.

To prevent my lips from this atrocity, I pack Nivea Lip Care, Fruity Tinted Lip Balm. This balm is a lifesaver for those in travel-mode, since it moisturizes your lips like crazy. Plus, it comes in the most delicious scents, from Watermelon to Strawberry, as well as Blackberry — yum.

When traveling, you might just have to put down your favorite matte lipstick, in favor of this smashing moisturizing lip balm. Believe me, you will feel so refreshed….and won’t need to worry about the silly EU carry-on rules

Stellari Brush

It’s certifiably insane just how tangled my hair gets when I’m on my European peregrinations. I’m not sure what causes my sleek hair to puff up into a giant frizz-ball when I’m en route. But I chalk it up to the general stress of not wanting to miss my flight. That and navigating such a crowded space — with such expensive food — has something to do with it.

There’s only one solution that I thankfully carry with me at all times. The Stellari Brush has been my go-to hair essential from the moment I saw it go viral on TikTok. This brush has the power to untangle the most intense knots — and I would know.

The Stellari brush effectively detangles your hair — leaving it smoother and healthier than ever. I keep it in my travel bag and I thank the Stellari gods every day for creating a brush that tackles my frizz-tastic needs.

Urban Decay’s Naked 2 Basics Matte Eyeshadow Palette

For eyeshadow, I like to keep it simple with the Naked2 Basics Matte Eyeshadow Palette from Urban Decay. I’ve been using this palette since the dawn of time, and it never fails me. Not once! To look awake and refreshed throughout the day, I’ll use the Skimp shade on my lid, then use the cover shade to contour on the crease.

It’s a lightning-quick way to enliven your look — light and dark color contrasts cause your eyes look bigger and rounder.
