From Dublin To Manhattan – No Jetlag
What an idea: using technology to bring us closer instead of distancing us.
As soon as GeistM heard that a sculpture/installation known as The Portal is “an open-air video link” between folks on Dublin’s O’Connell Street and in NYC’s Flatiron district, we knew that we had to hold a company event around this thrilling work of art.
Built for marketers by marketers, GeistM is a full-service marketing partner that specializes in Performance Content Marketing and its offices are located in both NYC and Dublin.

The brainchild of Lithuanian artist and dreamer Benediktas Gylys, this “groundbreaking public technology sculpture”* is fun, goofy, novel – and possesses a deeper, more serious purpose.
In a press release, Dublin’s Lord Mayor Dublin Daithí de Róiste said the Portal “exemplifies the fusion of technology and engineering to bring communities from across the world closer together.”
Gylys’ first Portal opened in 2021 and linked Vilnius, Lithuania and Lublin, Poland. According to NBC News, Gylys is eyeing Brazil and Ethiopia as future sites for Portals.
The Dublin/NYC Portal launched on May 8 and will continue to form a visual bridge connecting the two cities through Autumn 2024.

Throughout that time, there will be scheduled programming, including cultural performances that will be enjoyed by people in the other city via the livestream.
