Say Goodbye to Screen Time Battles With The Toniebox

Say Goodbye to Screen Time Battles With The Toniebox
  • The Toniebox is a practically indestructible, musical storybox designed to entertain children from nursery all the way up to 8 years old
  • According to a Good Play Guide study of a hundred 3 – 5-year-olds, the Toniebox improves kids’ speech in only 4 months
  • I decided to pick up the Full Experience Bundle (Toniebox + 7 Tonies) for £149.88. Keep Reading to find out what my kids thought….

With televisions and iPads acting as “unofficial” babysitters these days, mums find it tough to get anything done when the kids demand constant entertainment.

I’d heard about the side effects of too much screen time for kids, like how it negatively affects their social skills. And I didn’t want that for my two little ones. So, I turned to the Toniebox, a kid-friendly, screen-free musical storybox designed for children ages 3+.

I ordered the Full Experience Bundle (Toniebox + 7 Tonies) for only £149.88, saving 20%. Here’s what we got:

The Toniebox

The Toniebox is a soft, squishy, totally portable storybox that comes with Tonies — hand-painted collectibles of your child’s favourite characters that are simply bursting with entertaining stories and songs. All your kid has to do is place a Tonie on top of the Toniebox and tap, tilt and squeeze the ears to navigate through their preferred stories and songs.

Since it’s totally kid-proof, I never worry about it tumbling down the stairs or tossed off the top bunk. My kids love it so much that there are rows about which fun story to listen to next. I’m just delighted it’s no longer a screen they’re arguing over!

Our Very First Tonie — Paddington Bear

My eldest boy loves the tale about a most special bear who has a knack for turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. Paddington Bear is taken home and embarrassed by The Browns. The first book in the series is about 155 minutes of listening time and narrated by English actor and comedian, Stephen Fry — the kids are obsessed with this.

Then we picked Elsa from Frozen

Elsa’s Tonie is 24 minutes long. My daughter Poppy is fascinated with this story of a kingdom trapped in perpetual winter. She adores Elsa, the princess who will do anything to save her sister and kingdom. The Tonie recites the story and sings the songs as well. While I can do without hearing my daughter sing ‘Let It Go’ for the 500th time, I’m thrilled that she’s finding joy in the Toniebox.

Up next? My son’s latest passion: Chase from Paw Patrol

Chase is my son’s favourite pup from Paw Patrol, Chase always finds a way to help. My son’s learning empathy in such a natural way. He’s always looking up the trees to see if there’s a cat that needs rescuing! It’s adorable. It has 54 minutes of storytelling.

Then, another treasure… Peppa Pig

With 65 minutes of listening time, this audio is packed with funny stories, music, and special effects from the popular TV series. The kids listen to this in the car and are completely transported to scenes like Peppa going Skiing, Miss Rabbit’s Day Off, or George’s Balloon. Of course, I know every. Single. Word.

And, oh yes… Spidey from Spidey & His Amazing Friends

I swear my son wants to be Spiderman when he grows up after listening to this story night after night. The songs are terrific, and Spidey’s friends are hilarious. This one has approximately 40 minutes of running time.

Then we added Peter Rabbit to the bundle

My kids go crazy for the antics of the mischievous Peter Rabbit. He goes on adventures with his sisters Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail. It’s so entertaining and a great way to introduce my kids to a classic book. With around 65 minutes of story time, this is a (bunny) “tail” even adults can enjoy.

Our final choice for the bundle had to be our family favourite, The Lion King

When Scar plots to usurp the throne, young Simba is forced to grow up and work together with friends to protect his beloved homeland. Narrated by Robert Guillaume with around 30 min of running time, it includes four of the film’s most beloved songs. We now sing ‘Hakuna Matata’ on the way to school!

Overall, the Toniebox is funtastic!

With 7 hours of battery life, the Toniebox comes with a headphone jack so the young ones can listen to it anywhere. Generally, children outgrow their toys quickly, but the Toniebox content very cleverly grows as your child grows.

Once my kids grow older, Toniebox has a National Geographic Kids series. It’sspeech-based, factual and contains detailed content about popular subjects from dinosaurs to penguins. And for children who are fascinated by languages, there are Tonies in German or French.

My Toniebox Haul was a massive hit. The kids are each starting their own personal collections by picking up individual Tonies for only £14.99 each. So, stop using the screen as a babysitter and pick up the Toniebox. It’s kid-tested, parent-approved screen-free fun.
